Old Flame Brewery originated in Port Perry and has since expanded to larger cities in Ontario. When they opened their third location in Toronto's Distillery District, they decided to bring in different artists to paint the 18-foot high concrete pillars that anchor the old industrial space.
We were asked to paint a mural on this uniquely shaped surface that told a story reflecting the brand's essence. Rooted in connection and tradition, the name "Old Flame" embodies this spirit. As we brainstormed ideas, we were reminded of when the creator of Maed Studio and her partner had their first date at a local brewery—a perfect parallel to the brand's story.
We named the mural "Cheers at First Sight," using flowing shapes to accentuate the natural curve of the pillars and incorporating oversized hands reaching toward each other to symbolize connection.
The mural was painted on a vinyl material that wrapped the pillar, using high-quality paint to ensure it adhered to the material and was durable enough for a high-traffic area. We are thrilled with how it turned out and love visiting for a beer whenever we're in the area!
